Electrolysis

Electrolysis is suitable for any hair type, skin colour, male or female, as long as there are no contra-indications.

Electrolysis is a form of hair removal that permanently removes unwanted body hair from the root where it is attached to the matrix, and from where the growing hair follicle is fed oxygen and food from the skin’s blood capillaries, allowing the hair to continue growing.

The removal procedure is simple – a small “hair-thin” metal probe is inserted into the hair follicle, and a tiny amount of electricity is delivered to the follicle through the probe. This action destroys the hair follicle completely, if it is in the right stage of hair growth.

Hair growth is a complicated subject and needs to be discussed in detail with a full consultation, before any electrolysis can take place. Electrolysis is not usually a “one-off” treatment, a few treatments usually would be needed, especially if there was a hormonally-induced facial hair growth problem, (normally more common during pregnancy, menopause and after, when women are in their 50’s and 60’s – the Androgen hormones become more prevalent in our bodies at that age.)
Treatment times are usually fifteen minutes long – but it will depend on what the therapist and client discuss together at the consultation.

As this is a very skilled procedure, it is vital not to damage the surrounding skin at the same time as correctly treating the follicle, therefore we cannot stress highly enough the importance of the need for therapists to be registered with the appropriate associations. At Bellissima Beauty we are registered with The British Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology, who are the largest and most experienced association, approving only highly qualified therapists to carry out this sort of work.
At Bellissima Beauty we are also specialise in Advanced Electrolysis, which is the removal of the following:

Thread Vein

Warts

Milia

Benign Moles

Spider Capillaries

Cherry/Blood Spots

Electro-Micro Surgery (Advanced Electrolysis) is used to remove the above conditions, using 24 carat gold-plated “hair-thin” probes, and depending on your pain threshold, can be treated with or without local anaesthetic cream. The electrical current cauterises the blood supply making these treatments usually very quick, and often painless. All of the above conditions are removed straight away during the treatment, depending on how many or how large the “capillary” areas are to be treated, as then several treatments may be necessary.

A full consultation is required for all new clients and new areas on existing clients. Moles can only be treated if we receive written confirmation that the mole has been seen by your G.P. to ascertain that it is benign and able to be treated by us.

Prices depend on size of treatment area, please consult therapist, or call for an explanation about anything
